Dimethylglycine ( DMG ) is a derivative of the amino acid glycine with the structural formula (CH 3 ) 2 NCH 2 COOH. It can be found in legumes and liver. Can be obtained by removing one of its methyl groups from trimethylglycine . In addition, it is a byproduct of choline metabolism.

When DMH was first obtained, it was referred to vitamins as vitamin B 16 , but, unlike the true B vitamins , lack of DMH in the diet does not lead to any unhealthy consequences and therefore it does not meet the definition of the term vitamin . In modern conditions, dimethylglycine is defined as a food product and can be used without a doctor's prescription.
Application
Dimethylglycine can be used as a drug to enhance athletic capabilities, an immunostimulant , epilepsy, or mitochondrial disease . [1] [2] Published studies on this topic showed that there is practically no difference between the treatment of DMH and placebo in the spectrum of autism diseases. [3] [4]
