Silesian dialects of German

Silesian dialects of the German language ( German: Schlesisch ; also Schläsisch or Schläs'sch ) is a dialect of the East German group , formerly widespread in Silesia and related areas of the Sudetenland . After the Polish People’s Republic was created and Germans were evicted from the region, the dialect begins to “die”, being used only by a minority in Upper and partly in Lower Silesia . Until the end of World War II, about 7 million people spoke Silesian dialects.
