History

On December 25, 1907, by decree of the Holy Synod , a vicar Yeisk department was opened in the Stavropol diocese with the stay of a bishop in Yekaterinodar [4]

In 1916, the bishop of Yeisk was given certain independence rights, and the department was renamed Kuban and Yekaterinodar . Yeisk Vicariate was restored in 1921 and later acted as the Vicariate of Krasnodar (1923-1925), Rostov-on-Don (1925-1926) and the Stavropol diocese (1931-1933).

On December 24, 2004, vicarism was revived by the decision of the Holy Synod as vicar of the diocese of Ekaterinodar .

On March 12, 2013, at the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, an independent Yeisk diocese was formed with its inclusion in the newly formed Kuban Metropolis [3] .
