The yellow-throated shrub tanager [2] ( lat. Chlorospingus flavigularis ) is a species of bird from the tanager family. Birds live in subtropical and tropical lowland and mountainous humid and highly degraded forests and lowland and upland shrubbery, as well as along the banks of rivers , rivers, streams , at an altitude of 250-1600 meters above sea level [3] . Body length 15 cm [4] , weight about 26 grams [3] .

There are three subspecies [1] :
- Chlorospingus flavigularis hypophaeus - from the volcano Baru east to central Veraguas (western Panama );
- Chlorospingus flavigularis marginatus - from the western slopes of the western Andes in the department of Valle del Cauca ( Colombia ) south to the province of El Oro (southeastern Ecuador);
- Chlorospingus flavigularis flavigularis - from the Andes of Colombia south to the eastern slopes of the Andes of Ecuador and Peru to the Puno region.
