History
The name Stupferich comes from the Old High German Stuotpferrich, or Stutpferrich (stuot = “mare”, pfarrih = pferrich = “pen”). Thus, the name indicates that in the settlement from Reginboto to Malsch, citizens engaged in breeding horses [1] [2] . The first documented mention of Stupferich in the donation book of Hirzau Abbey ( German Kloster Hirsau ) dates back to 1110. [3] Until January 1, 1972, Stupferich was a separate municipality, but was then incorporated into the city of Karlsruhe. Stupferich in 2000 celebrated the 900th anniversary of the formation of the community [1] [3] [4] .
