Biography

He began his creative activity in 1924: he translated Russian revolutionary songs into the Yakut language .

1928 - graduated from the State Institute of Journalism (GIH) under the People's Commissariat of the RSFSR [1] [2] , worked in the editorial offices of Yakut newspapers.

1942-1944 - A participant in the hostilities during the Great Patriotic War : in 1944 he was demobilized after a serious wound. [3]

Since 1946, a member of the CPSU.

In 1955 he became a deputy of the Supreme Council of the YASSR .

1964 - awarded the title of national poet of the Yakut ASSR.

He was buried in Yakutsk on the Magan Mountain.

Creativity

Along with Soviet-ideological themes, he used the motives of oral folk art in his works. One of his poems (Prometheus) was devoted to N. G. Chernyshevsky , who in 1871-1873. was in exile in the city of Vilyuisk . The poet’s creative interest in the Ukrainian literary heritage should be noted: the poem “Friend of the People”, which tells of Pavel Grabovsky (1864–1902), who was serving a hard-labor sentence, was replaced by a reference settlement in “the most remote places in Siberia”: in the Yakutsk region (Vilyuisk ), and since 1896 - in Yakutsk. From a cultural point of view, Kulachikov-Elling translations of individual works by Taras Shevchenko are also interesting.

Awards and Prizes

  • He was awarded the orders of the October Revolution , the Red Banner of Labor , the Friendship of Peoples , the "Badge of Honor" and medals .
  • Winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Yakutia.

Memory

One of the streets of the city of Yakutsk and Chymymakhskaya secondary school of the Tatta ulus was named after him.
