History
Since ancient times, border areas and guards have been located in these places. In 1902, Linjiang County was formed. In 1959, it was disbanded, and in its place the city of Hunjiang was formed.
In 1985, the city of Hunjiang was formed, and the territory of the former city of Hunjiang was divided into the districts of Badaojiang, Linjiang and Sanchatsi. In 1992, the Linjiang district was transformed into a county; on November 28, 1993, its status was elevated to a city county.
