The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( Auswärtiges Amt , AA ) is one of the most important German ministries, established in 1870 . Until 1919, it was headed by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and later by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Ministry Building on Spree
In 2000, the Ministry was transferred from Bonn to Berlin and occupied a building in which the SED Central Committee was located from 1959 to 1990 .
