Beijing - Tianjin Intercity Railway

Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway ( Chinese trade. 京津 城 際 鐵路 , ex. 京津 城 际 铁路 , pinyin : Jīng-Jīn chéngjì tiělù ) is a high-speed railway , primarily for passenger traffic between Beijing and Tianjin in China . The 117-km-long line was built for high-speed electric trains with a top speed of 350 km / h, and the line currently runs high-speed CRH (China Railway High-speed) trains with a speed of up to 330 km / h. When the line was opened on August 1, 2008, a world maximum speed record was set, which reduced the usual 70-minute trip to 30 minutes. [1] [2]

Route and Stations

Tianjin Viaduct

From South Beijing Railway Station , the line leaves in a southeast direction, following the direct line to Tianjin. It consists of three intermediate stations Yizhuang, Yongle (not yet fully built) and Wuqing.

In parallel, communication between cities is provided by the Beijing — Shanghai High Speed Railway , which runs along a different route through Langfang .

The current length of the line is 116.939 km, of which about 100 km are built on viaducts and only 17 kilometers pass through the embankment.

Line Service

First and second class passengers receive bottles of water, while in luxury class passengers receive Wang Lao Ji herbal tea ( Chinese 王老 吉 )

The line was opened on August 1, 2008 with 47 pairs of daily intercity trains between Beijing and Tianjin. Since September 14, 2008, 10 more pairs of messages have been added, reducing the minimum interval between departure and arrival from 15 to 10 minutes. Since September 24, 2008, 4 pairs of trains reached Tangu . On September 28, 2008, another 2 pairs of trains were put into operation.

These intercity trains are prefixed with a “C” (城) and four digits, from C2001 to C2298. Of these, the compositions C2001-C2198 operate in continuous mode. Odd trains depart from Beijing, and even trains arrive. C2201-C2268 trains stop at Uqing and Yizhuang stations. And the compositions C2271-C2298 go to Tangu .

Today, another 13 pairs of intercity trains have been introduced, heading to Jinan , Qingdao and Shanghai . These Jing Hu trains, as before, retain the “D” prefix.

Also, every day two special trains operate on the tracks (numbering DJ01 / 02). Two track measuring trains (numbering DJ5581 / 2) run here every ten days. Thus, 62 pairs of trains are operated on the line, 60 of which are passenger.

Tickets

Tickets

There are three classes of free seats on the Beijing-Tianjin intercity train:

  • Luxury, one place: ¥ 99 (about € 10 or $ 15 USD ). These seats are only available on CRH3 trains. They are located at the tails of the trains, eight seats per train.
  • First class, one place: ¥ 69 (about € 7 or $ 10 USD ).
  • Second class, one place: ¥ 58 (€ 6, $ 8 USD ).

Intercity is more expensive than more conventional trains on the line.

Technical Information

This line was the first in China, built for speeds above 300 km / h. It allows trains to move at speeds up to 350 km / h. [3] Thus, a trip between Beijing and Tianjin takes 30 minutes.

Rolling stock

Since mid- 2009 , only CRH3 trains have been used for long-distance line services. For long-distance transportation from Beijing to Qinan, Qingdao, Shanghai, CRH2A (speed 200-250 km / h) are used.

Speed Record

Speed indicator

On June 24, 2008, a train speed record was set on the line when the Siemens Velaro CRH3 train reached a speed of 394.3 km / h. [four]

History

Construction of the road began on July 4, 2005 . In April 2006, a contract was signed for the supply and installation of signal systems, communications, and electrification was also provided [5] .

Passenger service

The line was opened on August 1, 2008, just before the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing , during which some events took place in Tianjin. Entering the line significantly increased the speed of railway communication between the two cities. In 2007, 8.3 million passengers were transported by regular trains between Beijing and Tianjin. In the first year of operation of the high-speed road, from August 2008 to July 2009, the total passenger rail traffic between Beijing and Tianjin reached 18.700 million, of which 15.85 million traveled by intercity. [6] Meanwhile, over the same period, passenger traffic on intercity buses fell by 36.8%. [7] As of September 2010, the annual number of passengers is about 100 million. [8] , and it is estimated that the road will fully pay off. after 16 years. [9]

Finance

The entire project cost the Chinese Ministry of Railways and the governments of Beijing and Tianjin 20,420 million yuan. [10] In the first year, from August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009, revenues were already ¥ 1.1 billion for the transportation of 18.7 million passengers, while costs amounted to ¥ 0.7 billion. In the second year, the number of passengers increased up to 22.3 million, revenues amounted to ¥ 1.4 billion, and expenses less than ¥ 0.5 billion. To achieve a break-even level, the passenger flow should be 30 million per year. And to recoup the road - 40 million passengers. [ten]
