The Ministry of Higher Education and Training of South Africa is one of the ministries of the South African government. It oversees universities and other universities in South Africa. It was created in 2009 after the election of President Jacob Zuma, when the former Ministry of Education was divided.

The head of the political department is the Minister of Higher Education and Training as of May 2009 - Blade Nzimande. The headquarters of the ministry in Pretoria is the so-called House of Sol Plaatye, named after the writer and political activist Sol Plaatye.
