Biography
At the beginning of the XII century, in Lana, the townspeople who were under the senior authority of Bishop Godry held negotiations with him with the aim of obtaining communal self-government from him. During the absence of Godri in the city, his representatives reached an agreement with the city community on the sale by him of the bishop of these rights for a considerable sum of money. After returning to Lan Godry, he approved the agreement. .
In 1112, Godrey changed his mind, and persuaded the King of France Louis VI of his decree to abolish the charter concluded with the townspeople of Lana. At the same time, the bishop paid the king a "ransom", the largest in excess of the one that the lants offered him. The bishop hoped to compensate for such a significant amount by introducing a new tax, which he decided to impose on the city. Upon learning of this, the indignant townspeople rebelled against the episcopal authority and killed Godri. In 1128, King Louis VI re-recognized the Lanskoy Charter as legally binding. .
