The noble family of Balabanovs, dating back to the middle of the XVI century , originates from Lavrentiy Ivanovich Balabanov , which is mentioned in the Kolyvan campaign of 1540.
In 1606, Vasiliy Osipovich Kuvshinov to his “brother” (we are talking about cousins) Postnik Ivan Kuvshinov gives a loan of 150 rubles for mortgage bondage and takes the demesse of “brother” Dmitry Ivanovich Bolobanov in the Kashinsky district : a third of Ukhova’s village Zadubrovskaya), a third of the villages of Syropyatovo and Gushchino with all the land, arable land, mowing, and forests [1] .
Grigory Nikitich, a Moscow nobleman in 1658, and Alexei Kuzmin solicitor in 1692. Another representative of the clan is Savely Kuzmich Balabanov solicitor in 1692, steward of the Russian Emperor Peter the Great in 1693 [2] [3] .
The family of Balabanovs was recorded in the VI part of the noble family tree of the Nizhny Novgorod province of the Russian Empire , in possession of the “new salary” of Ulyan Posnokovich Balabanov (1628) in Arzamas district . However, the Heroldia of the Governing Senate Balabanovs were not approved in the ancient nobility [4] .
