Biography
Her Serene Highness Princess Margarita Thurn-i-Taxis was born on November 8, 1909 in the Belgian castle Beleuil , the main residence of the Princes de Lin . Her parents were Prince Alexander Carl Thurn-i-Taxis (1881-1937) and his first wife, Princess Maria, nee Princess de Lin (1885-1971).
Princess Margarita was the third child and the only daughter in the family. The eldest son of her parents, Prince Raimondo, was married between 1949 and 1965 to Princess Eugene the Greek , granddaughter of George I , the King of Greece.
Parents divorced when she was 10 years old. In 1923, Prince Alexander Karl naturalized in the Italian Kingdom and took the title of Prince della Torre y Tasso. After acquiring the castle of Duino, the prince received the title of 1st Duke of Castell Duino. In 1932, Prince Torre y Tasso entered into a second marriage with Elena Holbrook-Walker (1875-1959).
On April 29, 1931, in Paris, Princess Margarita married Prince Gaetano of Bourbon-Parma (1905-1958), the twenty-fourth child and youngest son of the Duke of Parma, Robert I. Among his brothers and sisters were the Princess of Bulgaria Maria Louise , the first wife of the Bulgarian king Ferdinand I , the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary Tsita and Prince Felix of Luxembourg , the grandfather of the reigning Grand Duke Henry I.
The couple had only one daughter, Princess Diana Margarita, born May 22, 1932 . In the first marriage, the princess was in 1955 - 1961 with Prince Franz Joseph Hohenzollern (1926-1996), and since 1961 she was the wife of Hans Joachim Emichen (1920-1995). From the second marriage, the princess has two sons, Alexander and Gaetano, and a daughter, Maria.
In 1940, Prince Gaetano and Princess Margarita divorced in Budapest . Prince Gaetano died in 1958 . The princess died on September 21, 2006 at the age of 97.
