Breteuil ( Fr. Breteuil, Breteuil-sur-Noye ) is a city in northern France , O-de-France region , department of Oise , Clermont district, canton of Saint-Jyu an-en-Highway . It is located 28 km north-east of Beauvais and 32 km south of Amiens , 7 km from the A16 "European" highway.

History
In the place of the present commune, the settlement existed already in the Gallo-Roman era. In the early Middle Ages, the city grew around the castle of the Counts de Breteuil built here and the Notre-Dame-de-Breteuil Abbey founded in 1035. In the XV century, the castle was demolished, and in its place remained only a hill, where in the XIX century houses were built citizens. The abbey also did not survive, it was destroyed during the Great French Revolution .
