Biography
Born in St. Petersburg. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1884-1892). Since 1892 he participated in exhibitions, was a member and exhibitor of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (since 1892), the Moscow Association of Artists (since 1893), and the St. Petersburg Society of Artists [1] . He painted portraits, landscapes, and genre paintings. He taught at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts , in VKHUTEMAS - LIZHSA (now - Repin Institute ). He studied the problems of painting technology and mural techniques. He participated in the painting of the church-monument of Alexander Nevsky in Sofia, in the unveiling of the frescoes of the Cyril Church in Kiev, he directed and participated in the painting of the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Bad Kissingen (Germany) [1] [2] , if - as some believe - in Bad Homburg, this painting was not preserved. In the 1920s he worked as a restoration artist in the State Russian Museum . The author of works and textbooks on painting technology. [2]
He died of starvation in the siege of Leningrad in March 1942.
The artistβs works are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
