It takes into account the best-selling singles (songs) of US performers, both on physical media ( laser discs , records , cassettes ), and in digital format ( mp3 and others). Compiled by the editors of the oldest US music magazine Billboard and therefore called the Billboard Hot 100 ("Hot Hundred" of Billboard magazine) [1] [2] [3] .

General information
- The American electro- hop duo LMFAO — after their single “Sexy and I Know It” became No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — became the second duo to do so with two hits in a row, for the first time since OutKast with their singles “Hey Ya! ”(2003) and“ The Way You Move ”(2004). [four]
- The single “ Set Fire to the Rain ” became the No. 1 hit number three for singer Adele after the lead of “ Rolling in the Deep ” (7 weeks No. 1) and “ Someone Like You ” (5 weeks) in 2011. Since simultaneously with all three of these singles album 21 was in the first place, Adele became the first solo artist in history who managed to do this (three hit leaders and album No. 1). Over the 53 years of the existence of Hot 100 and Billboard 200, only 9 albums topped the Billboard 200 , while two singles from them were No. 1 Hot 100 . The last one was Usher singer with the album “Confessions” (2004) and two No. 1 hits from him - “ Yeah ” (with the participation of Lil Jon and Ludacris ) and “ Burn ”. The only album with the simultaneous leadership of three singles from him was the combined soundtrack “Saturday Night Fever” (1978): “Stayin 'Alive” and “Night Fever” (by Bee Gees ) and “If I Can't Have You” (by Yvonne Elliman ) [five]
- In February 2012, Madonna ’s new hit “Give Me All Your Luvin '” became the 38th single of the singer, which hit the Top 10 of the American charts (an absolute record; The Beatles is in second place with 34 singles). [6] [7]
- Adele February 22, 2012 (after the Grammy-2012 ceremony) became the first female lead singer in history, whose three singles were simultaneously in the top ten of the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart : “ Set Fire to the Rain ” (No. 2), “ Rolling in the Deep ”(No. 5 on the 59th week of the chart) and“ Someone Like You ”(No. 7). In 2002 (March 30 - April 6), singer Ashanti also had three singles in the top ten, but she was the leading performer on only one of these singles (she sang the other two). [eight]
- The single " Part of Me " by Katy Perry became her 7th and 20th single in history, immediately debuting at the top of the main US chart. [eight]
- In March and April, the Billboard Hot 100 chart topped the Fun’s single “ We Are Young ” (with the participation of Janelle Monet ), which became the first rock hit No. 1 since 2008, when Coldplay was the leader with the song “ Viva la Vida ” [9] .
- The single “ Somebody That I Used to Know ” by Gauthier with the participation of Cimbra became the first hit since 1963 on the top of the US chart from a performer born in Belgium. Half a century ago, the world dominated the song " Dominique " performed by the Belgian nun Jeannine Dekkers (known as The Singing Nun ). But, since Gauthier had been living in Australia since 2 years old, he became the 1st since 2000 representative of his country at No. 1 in the USA for the first time after Savage Garden (then this group was in the lead for 4 weeks with the song “I Knew I Loved You”) . Of the soloists from Australia, Olivia Newton-John was the last time at the top of the Hot 100 (10 weeks of leadership with the song “Physical”, starting in November 1981), and of the Australian men (excluding groups) there was no one at the top for more than 30 years (then Rick Springfield was in the lead with the song “Jessie's Girl”) [10] . The song was the first in history, whose sales for 3 weeks exceeded 400 thousand (542,000, 463,000 and 414,000 downloads in each of the last three weeks, respectively). Earlier, with less results (2 weeks each more than 400 thousand), only three songs were distinguished: “Right Round” by singer Flo Rida (02.28 and 03.03.2009), “Grenade” by Bruno Mars (08.01 and 01.15.2011) and “Born This Way »of the singer Lady Gaga (02.26 and 03.03.2011) [11] . In the 4th week of leadership, the single became the 1st in history, simultaneously leading 4 multi-genre charts (except for the combined Hot 100, also thematic Alternative Songs , Dance / Club Play Songs and Hot Dance Airplay ) [12] , as well as Radio Songs , Hot Digital Songs , Pop Songs , Adult Pop Songs , Triple A, On-Demand Songs [13] .
- For the first time since 1977, three debutants at once led the nationwide hit parade of the United States: Fun , singer Gauthier and singer Carly Ray Jepsen . Then (35 years ago) in the Hot 100 were three newcomers in a row: Bill Conti (“Gonna Fly Now” from the movie “ Rocky ”), Alan O'Day (“Undercover Angel”) and Shaun Cassidy (“Da Doo Ron Ron”) . Moreover, of these three, only Cassidy returned to top 40 again. A record of 4 newcomers to No. 1 in a row was set in 1967. 45 years ago, the leaders were: singer Bobby Gentry (“Ode to Billie Joe”), the band Box Tops (“The Letter”), singer Lulu (“To Sir With Love”) and Strawberry Alarm Clock (“Incense and Peppermints”) [14 ] .
- The song “Whistle” by rapper Flo Rida became his 3rd hit number 1 in the Hot 100 after the previous two: in 2008, his hit “Low” was in the lead for ten weeks (with T-Pain ), and in 2009 the lead single was six weeks in 2009. Round ". As a result, he became the 12th rapper with 3 or more chart-takers following Diddy , Ludacris (5 each), 50 Cent , Eminem , Jay-Z , Nelly , Kanye West (4 each), Ja Rule , Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion), TI and T-Pain (all have three) [15] [16] .
- The song " We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together " by country singer Taylor Swift became her first charttopper in her career. Taylor previously had two hits in second place: “You Belong with Me” (2009) and “Today Was a Fairytale” (2010). And on No. 3 and No. 4 there were singles “Mine” (2010) and “Love Story” (2008) respectively. “We Are Never Ever ...” became the most successful digital download singer in one week (623,000) and second in SoundScan history after Flo Rida (“Right Round” with a print run of 636,000 in 2009) and her 4th hit Number 1 in Hot Digital Songs [17] . Returning to the first place of the “We Are Never Ever ...” chart in September, he became the longest number one country single in the last 32 years since the hit of “Lady” by Kenny Rogers (he was 6 weeks in the first place since November 15, 1980) . In addition, he became the second single in history by the number of weeks on the top of the charts for women (leading singles on vocals) after Debby Boone , which for 10 weeks topped the Hot 100 chart with the song “ You Light Up My Life ” (although in the country chart Hot Country Songs he was only No. 4 in 1977) [18] .
- The single “ Diamonds ” of the singer Rihanna became her 12th at number 1, which allowed her to reach Madonna by this indicator, sharing with her 4-5th place in history. Only the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18) and Michael Jackson (13) [19] have more .
- In December, Bruno Mars with his new single “ Locked Out of Heaven ” for the fourth time topped the United States national hit parade. He was previously at No. 1 with solo hits “ Just the Way You Are ” (4 weeks No. 1 in September - October 2010) and “ Grenade ” (4 weeks No. 1 in January 2011) and there was also a joint “ Nothin 'on You ”(2010, where Bruno performed as a guest star with the main soloist BoB '). And he did it in just 2 years and 10 months: a record for male performers over the past 48 years. Only Bobby Winton could create his own 4 charttopers back in the distant 1962-1964s (for 2 years and 6 months): “Roses Are Red (My Love)” (9.6.1962, 5 weeks No. 1), “Blue Velvet "(1963)," There! I've Said it Again "(1964) and" Mr. Lonely ”(12.12.1964) [20] .
