History
It was established by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on December 27, 2011 by separation from the Archangel diocese . Administratively included in the Arkhangelsk Metropolis . [3]
On April 18-19, 2012, the first diocesan meeting of the Naryan-Mar diocese was held, at which it was decided to divide the diocese into 6 deaneries and formed diocesan departments [4] .
Bishop Jacob said of his diocese: “Specificity is typical for the North in general: vast territories, practically no roads. It is enough to say that there are “winter roads” in Naryan-Mar, but, as the name implies, they function when there are frosts. In the summer - the plane. And if we talk about our remote villages, you can fly there by AN-2 or by helicopter, in summer the only mode of transport is a boat ” [5] .

Monasteries
Currently, there are no monasteries on the territory of the diocese, but in the past, in the village of the Gorge Leshukonsky district, the Uchellesky Job monastery (male, then female) operated.
In 2012, for the first time, monastic tonsure took place in the diocese, in the same year the Spaso-Borodinsky monastery sent the nun Tatiana to the diocese to carry church obedience in Naryan-Mar. In the future, Bishop Jacob plans to create a monastery in the diocese [1] .
