Story
The young nobleman Calisto is unrequitedly in love with beautiful Melibeya. He has two servants, Sempronio and Parmeno. One - a womanizer and a swindler, who primarily cares about his pleasures and his wallet, offers the owner to use the services of the witch Celestine: according to him, she can afford to fall in love with any girl in Calisto. Another, faithful Parmeno, warns the nobleman that trusting the "old whore" is dangerous. Calisto himself is trying to care for Melibey, but a strictly-educated girl rejects each time interrupts his love outpourings. Desperate to achieve reciprocity, Calisto hires Celestine.
The witch conjures the yarn with a love plot and brings it to Melibey's house. Having achieved that the maidservant led her to the girl, the pivot gives her the yarn and tricks her into a conspicuous belt: they say that the sanctified thing will help cure Calisto from the terrible toothache. Left alone, Melibeya admits to herself, at least, that she actually loves Calisto.
Celestine wants to pull Parmeno to her side. To do this, she promises him the caress of Oreus, whom Parmeno has long loved, and which languishes without male attention. She succeeds. From now on, both servants act at the same time, helping the old consolidation. Celestine manages to persuade Melibey to meet with Calisto at midnight at the gates of her house. The girl overheard the conversation of the parents discussing her future wedding, and she decides "it is better to be a good lover than a bad wife." But on the first evening, young people only manage to exchange a few phrases: both are afraid of a passing night guard. However, Melibeya manages to tell Calistro that he should come tomorrow at the same time.
Sempronio and Parmeno come to Celestine’s house and demand to share the golden chain that their master gave to the consolidation. The old woman refuses and young people stab her. The lover of Sempronio Elicia, who lives in her house, raises a cry, and the guards seized Sempronio and Parmeno. In the morning they are executed. Having lost both the employer and their lovers, Elicia and Oreus decide to take revenge on Calisto and Melibea. After all, if Calisto hadn’t paid so generously, the accomplices would not have quarreled, and would have survived.
Oreus is seduced by the groom, Calisto, and pokes out to him where and when the next meeting of lovers will be. Later, she requires one of her clients to beat Calisto in payment for services. But it didn’t happen as two offended women had in mind. The meeting of Calisto and Melibey was interrupted by loud noises. Hearing how two of his servants grabbed a fence from someone, Calisto rushes to the rescue, breaking free from the arms of her beloved. However, having torn from a high fence, the young man unsuccessfully falls and breaks his neck. Seen the death of a loved one, Melibeya wants to commit suicide. Having called her parents to the tower of the family castle, she confesses to them that she was in love, gave her beloved her innocence, and must now follow him. With the last words, the girl rushes down ...
