Bapov is from a simple working family from the station Alma-Ata-1 , father Salik is a railwayman, mother Assiya is a teacher of elementary grades. But everyone was keenly interested in culture. Ramadan had two older brothers Marat and Murat, who graduated from the Almaty Choreographic School in 1954 . And parents on this occasion arranged one, inviting, as it should be among the Kazakhs, many guests. Among them was a teacher Alexander Seleznev , whose name this school now bears, who noticed a brisk boy and invited him to study ballet too a couple of years later. Ten-year-old Ramadan himself went to school, on the last day of the third round of selection of children at the Moscow Choreographic School at the Bolshoi Theater . I met Uncle Sasha there, who introduced him to the jury. As a result, he was selected among 12 lucky ones, among whom was Natalia Arinbasarova [2] .

In 1966, graduating with honors from Moscow Art School (teacher A.M. Rudenko ), he was selected as the only one of 400 students from Moscow for the International Ballet Competition in Varna ( Bulgaria ). The competition was attended by 120 dancers from many countries of the world. “The unknown guy” took second place. The first went to Leningrad Mikhail Baryshnikov .

After success at a competition in Varna, he was offered to stay at the Bolshoi Theater , but he was a patriot and returned to Alma-Ata , becoming in 1967 the soloist of the Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theater. Abay . But he was not forgotten, inviting Alexander Rudenko, Alexei Varlamov and Asaf Messerer for classes in Moscow in the classes. Conducted concert work: from the laureates of international competitions in the capital, a ballet troupe was organized that traveled around the world on tour. So Bapov worked in two places at once - gaining experience at the Bolshoi Theater and getting good practice at the GATOB named after Abay.

The first and only artist in the history of Kazakhstani ballet who received the title of “ People's Artist of the USSR ” [3] .

Having completed performing on stage, Bapov graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory. N. Rimsky-Korsakova (department of directing ballet, 1986 ) and in 1988 he left to work at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Theater ( Turkey ) [4] , where he simultaneously led a male ballet class at the conservatory (department of choreography).

In 1994, he took his Turkish students to an international competition in the Bulgarian city of Varna, in which he took part 28 years ago, where he met an old Romanian ballet dancer Pavel Rotaru, who led his ballet school in the USA , and invited Ramadan to work in America. Arriving in the States for a couple of months, Bapov stayed there for 13 years. He lived and worked in Atlanta , Georgia . Later he opened his ballet school, where 140 students studied, and worked in other private schools. He staged numbers and one-act ballets, fragments from the ballet The Nutcracker by P. Tchaikovsky - Oriental Dance, Dance of Snowflakes, Chinese Dance. Bapov’s students won first place in all-American competitions.

In 2007, Bapov received an invitation from N. Nazarbayev, returned to Kazakhstan and a year later he was entrusted with the head of the Abay GATOB ballet troupe [5] . Since 2008 he is the chief choreographer of the Abay GATOB .

In the last years of his life, he was an adviser to the director of the theater for choreography and a professor at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts. T. Each appearance on the stage was a demonstration of high artistry, musicality, stage charm. Extreme expressiveness, completeness of gestures and poses, lightness, nobility, sculptural expressiveness are characteristic of his performing manner. The accuracy and expressiveness of the choreographic drawing, the distribution of accents and colors are controlled by the strict demands of the artist, a perfect sense of proportion and taste.

Outstanding ballerina Maya Plisetskaya :

“I was struck in Bapov by some extraordinary openness, the breadth of dance, which was closely intertwined with a young passion, an indefatigable thirst to convey to the viewer my emotions, my understanding of music, and to reveal my own understanding of the hero with the interpretation of the ballet. Refined technique, laconicism and, at the same time, dramatic intensity of the dance image distinguish Bapov’s performance. Amazing in its beauty, in its relaxedness, a jump is a dancer's take-off, full of grace, brilliance, spirituality. This is an artist with great potential and a bright personality. " [eight]
