Biography

The son of Major General Mikhail Ivanovich Stavsky . Educated at the Peterhof Gymnasium and at the Law Faculty of St. Petersburg University . He served in the Life Guards Dragoon Regiment . After joining the civil service, he worked in the Ministry of Justice.

After the outbreak of World War I , the Dragoon regiment joined the volunteer life guard and was promoted to lieutenant . At the beginning of December 1914, he and ten horsemen went to the enemy rear for reconnaissance and spent five months in a raid on German rear. By the highest order of April 1, 1916, he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree

Being constantly in danger of being discovered and captured, suffering enormous hardships, he, Lieutenant Stavsky, nevertheless carried out reconnaissance, until finally a repeated attempt to break through the area occupied by the enemy was unsuccessful, and Lieutenant Stavsky did not join his troops.

In the fall of 1916, Stavsky was seconded to the infantry to make up for the loss of the officers, took the position of company commander in the infantry regiment and died in battle on October 10.

His brothers Nikolai and Ivan also fought in the ranks of the Russian army during the First World War and both died at the front in 1915.
