Maria Louise Jonsen (better known as Aura Dion , born January 21, 1985 , Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish singer of Faroese , Spanish and French descent ^[1] ^[2] .

In 2008, she released her debut album, Columbine, which sold 100,000 copies worldwide. The album spawned the hit single "I Will Love You Monday (365)", which won first place in Germany and became platinum.

Early life

Aura Dion was born in Copenhagen in the family of a Faroe-French mother and a Spanish-Danish father ^[3] . Her parents are hippies . From the age of 8, she began to study music, and at the same age her first song was written.

At 7 years old she moved to Bornholm . There she began to study, but then Aura moved to Australia , where she sought inspiration for her music among Aboriginal people . She sang about it in the song "Something From Nothing".

Career

Columbine Album and International Breakthrough (2007—2010)

Dion made her debut in the summer of 2007 with the single “Something From Nothing”, but she gained success with the song “Song for Sophie”. Both tracks are from the Columbine album, which was released in 2008. The single “I Will Love You Monday” became the No. 1 hit in Europe, where it was released in an expanded version called “I Will Love You Monday (365)”.

The album Before the Dinosaurs (2011—2015)

Aura released her second international studio album, “Before the Dinosaurs,” on November 4, 2011 . The first single “ Geronimo ” was produced by David Jost and took number 1 on the official German Media Control Charts ^[4] .

In the same year, Dion won the European Border Breakers Award in the International Breakthrough category ^[5] .
