History

In 1850, on the maps of Mende, a settlement is indicated under the name - Governor.

In the "Lists of populated places of the Russian Empire" for 1859 and 1862, the village is mentioned with a double name - Mikhailovka (Kovalinka). In 1859, there were 403 inhabitants and 44 yards in the village.

According to the stories of local residents, the crews traveling along the Pronsky Bolshak drove into the village to shoe horses. The village was famous for its forge, forged horses here so that they flew like birds. So the village of Kovalinka has since become known. Meanwhile, according to historical data set forth, in particular, on page 320 in the second volume, “Historical and Statistical Description of Churches and Monasteries of the Ryazan Diocese,” compiled by the Ryazan historian Ioann Dobrolyubov and published in 1885, “Kovalinka, Mikhailovka, too, got its name from the landowner Mikhail Kovalinsky , who evicted several of his families from his Little Russian estate to this village. Traces of Little Russian origin have hitherto been preserved in the reprimand of the Kovalinsky inhabitants " http://elib.shpl.ru/en/nodes/13439-t-2-1885# page / 320 / mode / i nspect / zoom / 4

Near the village there is a place called by local residents - Barsky estate. Here recently housed the lady’s house. According to the stories of old-timers, the lady was very good-natured to the inhabitants of the village - she always extended a helping hand, but after the events of 1917, the Kovalens expelled the lady from the village. The estate was stolen, only the foundation of the lord's house stood.

During the period of collectivization, collective farms are being formed in Kovalinka.

In 1954, the collective farm “New Life” was formed from the collective farms “Red Airship”, “Red Putilovets”, “New World”, “New Shift”, “Red Fighters” and “Trudovik”.

From February 1968 to June 1979, the chairman of the collective farm “New Life” was Pozhogin Alexander Semenovich. Under him, the residents of nearby villages (Fadeevka, Larginovka, Gremyachka, etc.) were relocated to the central estate of the collective farm with. Kovalinka. The establishment of collective farm infrastructure and the construction of new housing were carried out. Repeatedly according to the results of the competition among the farms of the Korablinsky district, the New Life collective farm was declared the winner, with the award of a red banner. In 1970, A. S. Pozhogin was awarded the Jubilee Medal "For Valiant Labor", and in 1973, the Order of the Badge of Honor.

In 1979, Viktor Ivanovich Ryzhkin became the chairman of the collective farm. Under his chairmanship, new houses and infrastructure were built for the villagers. A dairy complex for 400 animals, two mechanical workshops, an indoor grain flow for 2,000 tons of grain were built, an asphalt road 3 km long was laid, and settlements Kovalinka and Grachevka were gasified.

In 2002, instead of a collective farm, the New Life limited liability company was formed.

Infrastructure

The House of Culture operates in the village, but the building has recently been in disrepair and is not used for its intended purpose, next to it is a building with a library and a feldsher-midwife station, village council, two shops and a post office. In the field of education, the Kovalensky primary comprehensive school and kindergarten "Rosinka" work.
