Policy
In the 2012 presidential election, the inhabitants of the canton gave Francois Hollande in the 1st round 29.9% of the vote against 25.4% of Marin Le Pen and 20.2% of Nicolas Sarkozy , and Hollande won in the 2nd round of the canton 59.6% of the vote (2007 1st round: Segolen Royal - 26.9%, Sarkozy - 24.3%; 2nd round: Royal - 56.4%). In the elections to the National Assembly in 2012 in the 10th constituency of the Pas de Calais department, they supported the current deputy, member of the Socialist Party, Serge Janken , who won 42.2% of the vote in the 1st round and 63.8% in 2nd round. (2007 Serge Szanken (SP): 1st round - 41.6%, 2nd round - 62.7%). In the regional elections of 2010, the list of socialists won in the 1st round, collecting 36.6% of the vote against 18.8% of the National Front and 13.9% of the list of "rightists". In the 2nd round, a single “left list” with the participation of socialists, communists and greens, led by the President of the Regional Council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Daniel Persheron received 55.0% of the vote, the National Front Marine Le Pen took second place with 24.0%, and the “right” list led by Senator Valerie Letar finished third with 21.0%.
