Baga-Burul ( Kalm. Baһ Buurl ) is a village (rural type) in Iki-Burul district of Kalmykia , the administrative center of the Bagaburul rural municipality [3] . Located 26 km northwest of the district center of Iki-Burul.

History
Date of establishment not established. A settled settlement most likely arose in the 1920s as part of a policy of attracting Kalmyks to sedentary life. Initially, the village was part of Manychsky , and since 1939 - Priyutnensky ulus . In 1930, an elementary school was opened in Baga Burul. In Baga-Burul were the central estate of the collective farm . Kalinin, founded during collectivization and the village council of the same name.
Great damage to the ball during the Great Patriotic War . During a short occupation, the Nazis shot the chairman of the village council, Basang Ajadykov, and a party member, head of the commodity farm department of 63-year-old M. Tsagalaev [4] .
December 28, 1943 the population of the village was deported on a national basis - Kalmyks . By a decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces of December 27. 1943 "On the liquidation of the Kalmyk ASSR and the formation of the Astrakhan region as part of the RSFSR", like other settlements in the Priyutnensky ulus of Kalmykia, the village was included in the Stavropol Territory .
In 1956, Kalmyks began to return to the village. In 1957, on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces “On the Formation of the Kalmyk Autonomous Region within the RSFSR,” the village was returned to Kalmykia. In 1966, after the formation of Iki-Burulsky district , the Baga-Burulsky rural council was re-formed [4] . In 1971, the Baga-Burul school became secondary [5]
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the north-west of Iki-Burulsky district , within the Ergeninsky Upland , which is part of the East European Plain , in the Har-Zauhan beam [6] . Altitude - 101 m [1] . The terrain is flat. The village is located on the right side of the Har-Zauhan beam. The general slope of the terrain from south to north [6] .
The distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista is 55 km, to the district center of the village of Iki-Burul - 26 km. The nearest settlement, Primanych village, is located 6.7 km southwest of the village [7] .
According to the Köppen-Geiger classification of climates, the type of climate is semi - arid (BSk index). The average annual air temperature is 9.8 ° C, and the rainfall is 318 mm [1] . Light chestnut soils of various particle size distribution are common in the vicinity of the village [8] .
In the village, as well as throughout Kalmykia , Moscow time operates.

According to the 2002 census, the majority of the population of the village were Kalmyks (58%) [17]
Social Infrastructure
The village has a culture house and a library. The residents of the village receive secondary education at the Baga-Burul secondary school. Medical services are provided by the feldsher-midwife station and Iki-Burul central district hospital located in the village of Iki-Burul .
The village is electrified and gasified.
