Ashley's Hundred is a group of young men who have responded to the call of William Ashley . On February 13, 1822, he made his first announcement to the Missouri Gazette and Public Advertiser about recruiting hundreds of brave men who were ready to go to the Indian lands to get furs.

In 1822, a former brigadier general , William Ashley, advertised in the newspapers that he was recruiting a group of 100 young people for an expedition up the Missouri River . The people who responded to this call later became known as Hundred Ashley . The expedition led by Andrew Henry set off in October 1822, reached the Yellowstone River and returned before winter. Many hunters and trappers from this group later became famous people in the Wild West . They took part in trade and clashes with the Indians , explored new territories and contributed to the settlement of the West of the United States .
