Biography

Born in the family of an officer of the Terek Cossack army . After graduating from the Vladikavkaz Cadet Corps in 1916, he continued his studies at the Nikolaev Cavalry School (1917).

Service and participation in hostilities

He took part in the battles of the First World War in August 1916 as part of the 2nd Consolidated Cossack Division, under the command of General P.N. Krasnov, who was part of the 4th Cavalry Corps of General Gillenshmidt . For differences in the battles, Vertepov was awarded the rank of senior officer.
