Biography
He was born on February 25, 1843 in Kragsberg , in the suburbs of Odense , one of the largest Danish cities. The father's name was (1797–1868), and his mother was Bertha Marie Ammentorp (1805–1848). Christian Henrik Hansen, father of Christian Hansen, was a famous Danish farmer , a brewer, and later a politician. Mother was the daughter of a Danish pastor.
In 1859, Christian Hansen began his studies at in Copenhagen . In 1862, he passed the exam and continued his studies at the pharmacy. In 1865, he passed the final exam, worked for six months in Thisted , and then returned to Copenhagen.
In 1869 he published his book Pharmacopoea Danica , and also began to publish the journal Ny farmaceutisk Tidende .
In 1871, Christian Hansen was recruited to the University of Copenhagen as an assistant to Professor Julius Thomsen , a well-known Danish researcher who worked on getting pepsin from bovine stomachs [1] .
One of the most important discoveries of Christian Hansen is associated with the release of an enzyme from the calf’s stomach. Currently, the enzyme isolated by Hansen is known as rennin or chymosin . One of its trivial names is rennet , the whole point is that Christian Hansen isolated a calf by extraction from the fourth part of the stomach, and this section is called abomasum . In addition, rennin is the first chemically isolated enzyme: Christian Hansen isolated it by extraction with saline. In 1874 he was awarded a gold medal in chemistry for his research.
Christian Ditlev Ammentorp Hansen is also the founder of the largest Danish company Chr. Hansen, specializing in the production of food products, mainly dairy products, as well as probiotics , enzymes, phytonutrients. The organization currently employs 2,410 employees [2] .
Family
Christian Hansen was twice married. The first wife was Cecilia Kobke ( dates C датcilia Købke ; 1846 - 1879 ). After the death of his first wife, a year later he married Agnes Hedemann ( dates Agnes Mathilde von Hedemann ; 1858 - 1930 ).
