Club career
Antal Danube - striker constantly aiming at the goal, striking without preparation, from any position. He played well with his head. He began his football career with the Pécs Doge team. In 1965 he transferred to the metropolitan Uypest Doge . The first season in the new club, the Danube practically did not play. And from the second, it became an integral part of the Uypest attacking line. In 1967, the Danube, with a score of 36 goals, won the Silver Boot, a prize for the top scorers in European championships. Only the Portuguese Eusebio scored more (42). The following year, the Danube is the third most successful player in Europe and the owner of the Bronze Boot. Bulgarian Petar Zhekov and Greek Giorgius Sideris have the best indicators of that season. In 1969, for the first time became the champion and winner of the Hungarian Cup. Uypest reaches the finals of the Fairs Cup in the European arena. The Danube and Bene are the top scorers of the tournament. In the domestic arena, he became the champion six more times in a row, twice - the owner of the country's cup and in 1970 - once again the most productive player in the Hungarian championship. He ended his sports career in second-tier teams in Hungary, France and Austria.
Team Career
At the 1964 Olympics he was in reserve of the Hungarian national team. Four years later, he won the gold medal at the Olympics-68 . In the final, he scores two decisive goals against the national team of Bulgaria and becomes the second most successful player in the tournament. At the next Olympic Games, the Hungarian national team reaches the final, and the Danube is again the second most successful player in the tournament. In the same year, as part of the first team, he reached the semifinals of the European Championship . In total, for the national team of Hungary in 1969-1973, Antal Danube played 31 matches and scored 9 goals.
