Ideas
In 1996, he wrote the article “The Bitter Theorem”, in which he expressed thesis about the uncompetitiveness of the Russian economy - primarily manufacturing and agriculture - on the world market due to the peculiarities of Russian geography (vast territories) and climate (low average annual temperature). In 1999 , developing this idea, he published the book “ Why Russia is not America ”. Earlier, similar thoughts were expressed in pre-revolutionary and émigré articles and books little known to the general reader, some of which were reprinted in recent times in small print runs (works by I. L. Solonevich and B. Bashilov (M. A. Pomortsev) on the “geographical deprivation of Russia”) , the book of L. V. Milov “The Great Russian plowman and features of the Russian historical process”), as well as in some articles by S. G. Kara-Murza , L. G. Malinovsky, A. I. Orlov and others. According to Parshev, Russia's backwardness is not to blame for the Bolsheviks, not tsars and not a young reformer s, and nature and geography. Russia simply cannot compete in the world market with warm Europe, the USA, China, Brazil, Japan. But inside itself it can very well build a successful and developed society - if it does not integrate into the world market, but significantly limits trade relations and prohibits the export of capital. Thus, Parshev advocates partial autarchy .
In 2002, A. P. Parshev published a book, “Why America Comes,” in which he outlined the motives for behavior on the world stage of leading powers as a struggle for markets, resources, and especially energy. A. Parshev also defended L.P. Beria , appreciating the latter's activity exclusively in a positive manner, as a prominent statesman and business executive. This point of view was popularized by Yu. I. Mukhin in the book “The Assassination of Stalin and Beria” and the revised edition of “The Assassins of Stalin” (the first book included direct quotes from Parshev, the second text was changed). Parshev's works caused a great resonance in Russian society and are widely discussed. They received both support and criticism from scientists and publicists.
In 2007, together with Viktor Stepakov, he published the book When World War II started and when it ended, in which he studied the struggle of various insurgent movements (both collaborators and those who supported the anti-Hitler coalition) in the last years of World War II and the first years after it. According to Parshev, the exact chronological framework of the Second World War is still the subject of controversy among historians of different countries (in Europe, the war began on September 1, 1939; in Asia, the Sino-Japanese war, which took place on July 7, 1937, is considered by many historians to be inalienable part of the Second World War; the USSR entered the Second World War on June 22, 1941) [4] . Parshev proposed in the book to be considered as the starting point on October 23, 1936, the date of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War as the moment the countries first applied the Anti-Comintern Pact of the armed forces in the conflict; the end date of the war is unclear, since various rebel movements stopped the war in different years.
