History
Omsk is the only city in Siberia where a full-fledged hippodrome operates [3] . The hippodrome was equipped in 1888 [2] .
The city government allocated for him a section of the city pasture where a warm pavilion for high ranks, a pavilion for a choir and orchestra, and indoor galleries for spectators were built. In the first competitions, much attention was paid to testing horses of local breeds. The owners of the best race horses were the merchant of the first guild Miney Mariupolsky, S. Kovler, the Lipatnikov brothers. Before the revolution, the hippodrome was a sports organization and did not pursue the goal of breeding horses. With the introduction of sweepstakes, it also became a commercial organization. On its territory, mass festivals, sports, flights of airplanes took place .
In 1909, the first football match was played at the hippodrome in Omsk, principal games were held here, and the first international match took place in 1920: the city team tied 1: 1 with the Austro-Magyar team, made up of captured foreigners residing in the city. In the same year, the first Siberian football championship was held.
In the 1920s and 1930s, the hippodrome operated intermittently [4] . At the end of the 20th century, under the leadership of director Viktor Stukert, the hippodrome changed: a tribune, a capital fence, a beautiful entrance gate, etc. were built. The number of spectators increased significantly [2] .
In 2007, a hippotherapy center was opened in cooperation with the City Children's Hospital No. 4 to treat children with cerebral palsy [2] .
In July 2014, the All-Russian Equestrian Festival was held at the Omsk Hippodrome [1] .
Technical Features
Stables hold up to 100 horses. Earlier, the stands of the hippodrome were two-story and accommodated a large number of spectators, but in 2014 the capacity of the stands was only 400 people with 1.5-2 thousand spectators [1] . The hippodrome requires reconstruction in accordance with modern requirements: it should have an area of at least 30 hectares, a platform for 3-4 thousand spectators and a racetrack length of 1600 meters (now it is Russian milestone - 1067 meters). However, due to the location in the center of the city, the hippodrome cannot expand; there is also a lack of finance for construction elsewhere [2] . Nevertheless, it is planned that until 2025 the hippodrome will be moved to a new place, and its territory will be built up [5] .
