Biography

Born in Warsaw into the family of Lieutenant-General Nikolai Stepanovich Tsytovich ; the nephew of the generals E. S. Tsytovich , P. S. Tsytovich and V. S. Tsytovich ; cousin of State Counselor E. P. Tsytovich , General N. P. Tsytovich, and Colonels V. V. Tsytovich and V. V. Tsytovich .

In 1877 , after graduating from the Nikolaev Engineering School , he served as a second lieutenant in the Russian-Turkish war . In 1880, the lieutenant . In 1886, the staff captain . In 1889 he commanded a company . In 1892 he was promoted to captain

On December 19 of the same year, for the difference, he was transferred to the Life Guards by the captain and appointed an officer-tutor. On April 2, 1895, he was promoted to captain of the guard and was appointed company commander of the Nikolaev engineering school .

In 1900 he was promoted to colonel for distinction and appointed to be at the disposal of the General Engineering Department . On July 14, 1902, he was appointed Commander of the 11th Emperor Nicholas I, 1st Battalion . In 1905 he was dismissed from service with the production of major generals .

Being a retired, he participated in the translation of books at the publishing house of his wife’s brother, a well - known editor and publisher, D. E. Zhukovsky . In 1909 he attended the wedding of the latter with the poetess A. K. Gertsyk in Paris , playing the role of a “wedding general” [1] , according to her playful remark. Tsytovich was a witness on the part of the groom and the poet V. M. Voloshin on the part of the bride [2] .

In 1914, after the outbreak of the First World War, returned to service. From 1915 to 1917 he was in the reserve ranks at the Office of the Inspector of the engineering part of the Petrograd Military District . Since 1917, retired.

Member of the Civil War on the side of the White movement in Eastern Russia , in the army of Admiral A. V. Kolchak . From 1918 to 1922, after the occupation of Yekaterinburg by troops of the Siberian Army , V.N. Tsytovich enlisted in the staff of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff , performing the position of assistant librarian.

After the defeat of the White Army remained in the homeland. He lived in the Crimea , where he died in 1941 .
