Biography

Marco Jacobs was born on May 30, 1974 in Unna , North Rhine-Westphalia , where he spent all his childhood. From a young age I fell in love with sports, was engaged in athletics, and later began to perform at a professional level in discus throwing. He showed good results in this discipline, won the European Junior Championships, won several victories at various national championships. He got into the bobsleigh accidentally after the traditional examinations of the athletes on the ability to push were passed in West Germany. The coaches immediately noticed the high speed and strength of Jacobs, so they decided to take him to the national bobsled team. Since then, the athlete for several years was a member of the four pilot Christoph Langen .

The end of the 1990s was the brightest and most successful in the life of Marco Jacobs. In 1998, he went to defend the country's honor at the Olympic Games in Nagano, and with his four-seater crew, where Markus Zimmerman and Olaf Hampel entered, except for Langen, won the gold medal. He also tried himself in a double-bean program, driving out the little-known pilot Dirk Wiese , but he came only the eleventh. In 2001, Jacobs won in twos at the World Championships in Swiss St. Moritz, in 2003 he became the European champion, also in twos.

However, due to back problems, Jacobs was forced to leave the big sport, almost at the peak of his career. While still a bobsleigh, he graduated from the Cologne Sports Institute, so from 2003–2006 he worked as a therapist and trainer in various sports organizations. Later he started his own business in Cologne, opened a chain of stores selling medicines and various stimulants for training.
