Biography

He was born on August 13, 1784, the son of a diplomat, the office of the adviser to the Vienna Embassy. He was educated in the First Cadet Corps , from where he was released on May 18, 1802 as an ensign in the Dnieper Musketeer Regiment . May 15, 1803 promoted to second lieutenant .

In July 1806 he was transferred to the 2nd Cadet Corps, where in December 1808 he was promoted to assignment. At that time, the second cadet corps consisted of battalions of nobles, who later formed the Noble Regiment . According to the vacancy that opened here, in 1810, Braiko was transferred to these battalions with production as captains. He served in the Noble Regiment for more than ten years, having received new ranks for excellence in service: in September 1813 he became a lieutenant colonel and exactly three years later was promoted to colonel .

On April 19, 1821, Braiko was transferred to the 2nd Carabinier Regiment of the Separate Lithuanian Corps . In June 1823 he was appointed commander of the 2nd Grenadier Regiment , which he commanded until January 28, 1826, when he was appointed to a new position - commander of the 1st brigade of the 25th Infantry Division , with production as a major general .

During the rebellion that broke out in 1830 in Poland , having received the 25th division under control, he went to the theater of war to pacify this region. On February 8, he took part in the battle at Vygoda, and on the 13th, at Grokhov near Prague, where he was wounded by a rifle bullet in his left hand, under the armpit to fly out with damage to the bone and tendon. The wound was so serious that he was forced to leave the army. After spending four months on vacation and healing the wound, he again returned to the troops and on July 30 again accepted the 25th Infantry Division, which he commanded until the end of the campaign. For the differences made under Grokhov, Braiko was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree.

Upon his return to Russia on December 6, 1831, Braiko was appointed commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Grenadier Division . In this post he remained only a few months, and then successively held the positions of the Vitebsk commandant, commander of the 2nd brigade of the 3rd infantry division , then the head of the 2nd infantry division and, finally, on May 13, 1835 he was appointed Tiflis military governor , December 6 of the same year was promoted to lieutenant general .

On November 21, 1842, Braiko was appointed a member of the Military Council and remained in this position until his death, which followed on May 8, 1848 in St. Petersburg ; buried in the Smolensk Orthodox cemetery.
