Iskra Square ( Tat. Chatky maidany ) is an area in the eastern part of Kazan , in the center of the Soviet district of the city. In everyday life it is often referred to as the area of the Soviet Executive Committee .

The square is located at the intersection of Patrice Lumumba Street (runs from west to east) with Iskra Streets (moves north), Shurtygina (moves south) and Aeroportovskaya Street (moves south).
The area was equipped in the 1960s and was named after the street of the same name, the southern part of which was renamed Shurtigin Street in 2004.
In addition to the roadway, the area has an alley-green zone and an asphalt area framed by greenery south of P. Lumumba Street and a green zone with a wall of honor and memory to the north. A parking lot has been arranged on the paved area, as well as driving training courses.
The combined building of the Administration (District Executive Committee) and the Civil Registry Office of the Sovetsky District of Kazan and the Office of the Federal Service of the Russian registry for Tatarstan, the building of the Soviet District Military Commissariat (District Military Commissariat), the building of the city veterinary center, as well as 3-story residential buildings " Stalin " go out onto the square. A little further down P. Lumumba Street is the building of the city cynological center. The view of the square has a high-rise dominant of the nearby Kazan skyscraper “ Azure Skies ” located nearby.
Trolleybus route No. 20 (since 2007; previously operated No. 2 in 1955-2008 and No. 5 in 1959- pass through the square along P. Lumumba street in the shortest direction from the city center to the 21st century and Azino-1 microdistricts) 1963) and bus route No. 83 (and also provided for No. 48). The stop towards the center has a pavilion in front of the northern green area of the square.
