BHK

The first three editions of the Hebrew text of the Old Testament, the Hebrew Bible, were edited by German exegete Rudolf Kittel .

The first edition was published in 1905 in Leipzig, the second was completed by 1913. These two editions were built on the basis of the Encyclopedia of commentaries on the Torah of “Mikraota Gdolot” by Daniel Bomberg , but in contrast to it did not include marks of the Masoretic text.

The third edition was published in 1927-1937 in Stuttgart under the editorship of R. Kittel and P. Kale and was already being built on the basis of the Leningrad Code of 1009. The footnotes indicated the nature of the recorded handwritten discrepancies. The publication itself has been reprinted many times.

The seventh edition was published in 1951 with the participation of German biblical scholars Albrecht Alta and Otto Eissfeldt, in which options were taken from the newly discovered scrolls of Qumran .

In 1955, the last ninth edition of the Hebraic Bible was published.

BHS

Between 1967 and 1997, based on a revision of the third edition of the Hebraic Bible (BHK) (the critical apparatus was thoroughly reviewed), an updated critical edition of the Hebrew text of the Old Testament “ Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia ” was published in Stuttgart under the editorship of K. Elliger and V. Rudolph (BHS). " In 1997, the fifth latest edition of the BHS was released.
