History

According to one version, the temple was built by the Korean Buddhist monk Kai-hossi from Kudar, the monks Emmyo and Shimohi-Simmotsu. According to another version - by the sons of Prince Shotoku Yamashiro-no-Oye and Yugi. The temple was built in the same era as the Horyu-ji temple . A hurricane severely damaged the temple in 1645, and reconstruction was completed almost a hundred years later in 1737.

July 21, 1944 lightning struck the pagoda, it completely burned down and was restored in the original style of Asuka in April 1975.
