Biography

Born on November 9, 1958 in Moskalvo [1] . At the age of 12, having lost her leg as a result of an accident, she was on disability [2] . She married an officer, moved to the village of Vanino in the Khabarovsk Territory , where she still lives [3] . At first she worked in a regional newspaper, but, quarreling with local officials and not wanting to obey censorship , in 2004 she left and founded her own independent newspaper, My Coast [4] .

In 2007, Tatyana Sedykh appealed to the Public Chamber of Russia with a request to protect her from harassment by the district authorities [5] , after the administration of the Vanino municipal district filed a lawsuit against her with the court asking for the release of the editorial office “My Coast”, which in 2005 year was provided by the administration itself [6] . Representatives of the Vanino district administration consider Tatyana Sedykh “an eternal oppositionist,” reproaching her for publishing exclusively negative materials about the current situation in the village and its environs [2] . Earlier, official structures used the label “enemy of the region” as applied to it [7] . In 2006, for officially unclear reasons (unofficially, by tacit order from the district administration [1] ), My Coast was refused to be accepted for sale at 12 Vanino outlets at once [6] .

During the existence of the newspaper (since 2004), Tatyana Sedykh was assassinated (her daughter nearly died in the burning house, the editorial office equipment and the circulation of the first issue of the newspaper were destroyed) [1] [8] , a car was burned; on Press Day , an attack was made on a rented apartment; passed the release of fake doubles of the newspaper; Tatyana regularly receives insults and threats on the Internet; her online content is periodically deleted [9] ; several years ago, an attempt was made to bring her down by car [1] . At the same time, none of the crimes has been disclosed at the moment [10] . Since 2004, after the house of Tatyana Sedykh was burned, she and her children are registered in the ashes, housing has not yet been provided to the victims of the fire.

December 12, 2009 Tatyana Sedykh became the winner of the Andrei Sakharov Prize “For Journalism as an Act” [11] ; in 2010, she became a member of the jury of the award contest [12] .

On March 30, 2011, Tatyana Sedykh posted an article about a Russian ship arriving from Japan from the Fukushima area at Vanino port , which showed an excess of radiation level [13] . In response to this publication , port captain Nikolai Tatarinov accused Sedykh of unauthorized entry into sensitive territory, disclosure of classified information [14] and espionage [15] .

In addition to the “newspaper” activities, Tatyana Sedykh is currently actively involved in the life of the Russian journalistic community, trying to help her colleagues in difficult situations [16] ; makes efforts to attract maximum attention to local district problems and conflict situations [17] [18] [19] ; trying to solve the problems of his countrymen, who increasingly turn to Tatyana, and not to the official authorities [20] [21] .

December 19, 2013 Tatyana Sedykh took part in the annual press conference of Russian President Vladimir Putin. She managed to ask several questions to the President of the Russian Federation regarding the fate of the logging enterprise Arkaim, Vanino Commercial Sea Port. Also, Tatyana Sedykh asked the President of the Russian Federation to conduct an audit of the Vanino Linear Department of Internal Affairs in transport, whose employees, according to Tatyana Sedykh, “are fighting for the control territory” with the Vanino drug police. In addition, Tatyana Sedykh brought to the attention of the President of the Russian Federation the problem of diesel generators not working in the village, purchased more than six years ago. After the speech of Tatyana Sedykh, the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia, began checks.

From April 23 to 25, 2014, the first media forum of independent regional media was held in St. Petersburg, and Tatyana Sedykh was also elected to the organizing committee (for some reason, the publication was called the head of the news agency]). They promise to make the media forum annual and useful for non-state journalism in the outback.

In addition to the newspaper - "Senke" - it tells about the life and traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of the region [23] : Oroch and other peoples living in the Vaninsky and Sovetsko-Havansky districts of the Khabarovsk Territory [24] .
