Biography
Levanevsky was born on November 8, 1842 in a noble family and was the son of Colonel Alexander Yuryevich Levanevsky. Having been educated in the 2 nd cadet corps, on June 13, 1862, he entered military service in artillery with the rank of second lieutenant . On June 1, 1863, he was promoted to lieutenant , in 1864 he graduated from the Mikhailovsky Artillery Academy on the 1st category, on August 29, 1867 received the rank of staff captain .
On January 2, 1871, Levanevsky was appointed head of practical exercises for Kronstadt fortress artillery and in the same year (March 28) was promoted to captain for the difference. Having received the rank of lieutenant colonel on January 28, 1875, on March 14, 1875, he was appointed assistant commander of the Kronstadt fortress artillery. On August 30, 1878, he was promoted to colonel for distinction. On July 21, 1883, he was transferred to the same post in the Vyborg fortress artillery. From February 7, 1886 to April 15, 1887, he was head of warehouses of artillery equipment at Mikhailovsk and Poti offices.
On April 16, 1887, Levanevsky was appointed commander of the Kerch fortress artillery and on August 30 of the following year he was promoted to major general . From January 11, 1895, he served as assistant chief of artillery of the Odessa Military District , and on April 21, 1899, simultaneously with the production of the rank of lieutenant general, he was appointed head of artillery of the Finnish Military District .
On September 30, 1904, he was appointed chief of artillery of the Petersburg Military District , and from this position on December 3, 1905, he was dismissed from service with production to generals from artillery , with uniform and pension.
Levanevsky spent the last years of his life in Finland and died on December 10, 1921 in Helsinki in the 80th year of his life [1] .
