Family History
Boyarin Semen Mikhailovich Lykov, killed in the Battle of Kulikovo (1380). Boyarin Alexander Vladimirovich - sent by the ambassador to the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitovt (1426). Mikhaylo Matveevich Lykov, a deceased - executed (1572) by Ivan the Terrible :
In those same years, he killed the husband of a bright family, Mikhail Matveyevich Lykov, along with his close relative, a beautiful young man, at a tender age, who was sent to study sciences overseas in Germany and there he mastered the German language and writing well, since he had been studying for many years and traveled all over the German land, then returned to our country and a few years later accepted death innocently from the tormentor. And then Matvey Lykov, Mikhailov’s son, his father, blessed with memory, was burned, having suffered for the fatherland, when the Polish and Lithuanian army with their hetmans returned from Starodub , at that time many northern cities were ravaged; Matvey, however, having seen that his city could not survive, was the first to release his wife and children, and then, not wanting to see the adversaries taking the city, he defended his walls with the people, and they preferred to burn with their city rather than surrender it to the enemy . His wife and children, as captives, were assigned to the old king Sigismund . The king, as a true Christian, ordered them to be fed not as captives, but as his own people, placed them in the wards and ordered his learned doctors to teach them noble sciences and Latin.
