Biography

Stefano Ticci was born on May 13, 1962 in the municipality of Forte dei Marmi . Having become a member of the country's main national team, already in the late 1980s he began to show quite decent results at the World Cup. Thanks to these successful races in 1988, he and his partner Marco Belodis were taken to defend the honor of Italy at the Olympic Games in Sarajevo , however, the team failed to get to the prize positions: ninth among the twos and eighth among the fours.

Ticchi already went to the 1988 Games in Calgary with another pilot, Ivo Ferriano , but the results were even worse than last time. Together, they finished only nineteenth, and in the competitions of four-seater crews were able to get only to tenth place. Before the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, the athlete began to play on the same team with the promising German bobsledder Gunther Huber , in the standings of the doubles, they fought for prizes, but in all races were in fifth place. The Italian four rode even worse, finding themselves in twelfth place.

The most successful for Ticci came the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer , where he and Huber won the bronze medals of the doubles program. In the same year he became the champion of Europe among the fours, showing the best speed in the French La Plana. After these competitions, he decided to end the career of a professional athlete.
