Monument Description

It was a model of the first domestic civilian jet aircraft Tu-104 (modification Tu-104A) with tail number 42376 [1] , one of 201 copies.

History

In the 1970s, Alexei Tupolev , being a candidate for deputy of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in Ishimbay constituency No. 509, responded to the request of the head of Ishimbay Vladimir Polyakov and presented the city with the creation of his father, Andrei Nikolaevich Tupolev [1] .

The airplane was brought to the city in an unassembled state and assembled at the Palace of Pioneers (now the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity), Lenin Ave. , 22. There was a platform for testing aircraft model aircraft designers (now a 9-story building) behind the Palace of Pioneers.

It was planned to create a children's movie theater and an aeronautics museum on the plane, but these plans were frozen, the plane was attacked by vandals [1] . In the early 2000s, on the initiative of the head of Ishimbay V.P. Davydov , a cafe was opened on the plane [1] . After the change of leadership of the city, the plane was not given proper protection; in 2005 it was set on fire. The city administration decided to hand over the plane for scrap [1] . A monument to Mazhit Gafuri from Stakhanovskaya Street was moved to the place of the monument-airplane. Nowadays, at this place the Border Guards Square was created, in which a monument to the border guard with a dog is installed [2] .
