History

Butovo Station. 1885 year

Station Butovo. 1910 year

In the fall of 1866, the railway laid here came into operation. However, the nearest stations were located in Tsaritsyn and Podolsk . To get to them was quite troublesome and at the request of local landowners from the summer of 1868, country trains began to make a short stop at 28th verst from Moscow. In 1871, Butovo local landowners turned to railway engineer Karl Fedorovich von Meck , co-owner of several railways, with a request to build a railway station. Their request coincided with the desire of Karl von Meck himself, who had extensive land tenure in Butovo [2] . The new station got its name from the village of Butovo , located about a kilometer to the west [3] . A steam train from Moscow to the Butovo Peninsula lasted about an hour and a half [4] .

The emergence in 1903 of a railway station in Butovo raised the price and importance of land lying on both sides of the railway lines. The entrance to Butovo station was lit with kerosene lanterns [2] .

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Ivanovo estate was located not far from Butovo station.

In 1932, the Butovo Test Depot for locomotives was built and commissioned [2] .

A branch departed from the station to the village of Kommunarka , now dismantled.

In the 1980s, local cargo operations were carried out at Butovo station on access roads, a covered warehouse, an open area and an elevated track. For the parking of combined trains, there was a pick-up track between the 3 and 4 main tracks (now mothballed with the removal of arrows). There was an access road to the station to the Kommunarka poultry farm. The access road was closed back in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, unloading was still carried out on an elevated path in the southern neck of the station. Both the covered warehouse, the open area, and the elevated path are in good condition.

As of autumn 2016, according to the documents of Russian Railways, Butovo station is listed as an open intermediate station of the 4th class of the Moscow-Kursk DCS-1, without arrows, with 4 entrance and 4 exit traffic lights, two main routes.
