Creation History
The song was written by Paul McCartney under the influence of a lecture by Maharishi Mahesh Yoga about the children of nature, which The Beatles heard in India [2] [3] . This lecture inspired Lennon to the song “Child of Nature”, later converted into “ Jealous Guy ” [2] [3] .
Record
McCartney recorded the song (vocals and acoustic guitar part ) on August 9, 1968. Twenty-five versions were created, of which the twenty-fourth was recognized as the most successful (and the second was later included in Anthology 3 ). The next day, the parts of a timpan , a drum set and another guitar were added to the recording [4] . The drum set in the song sounded like a bongo [5] .
