As a result of the 2015 reform [1], the composition of the canton was changed: it included the abolished canton of Eschen and separate communes of the cantons of Obigny-en-Artois and Osie-le-Chateau .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round of Marine Le Pen 33.9% of the vote against 21.4% of Francois Fillon , 16.7% of Emmanuel Macron and 14.3% of Jean-Luc Melanson ; in the 2nd round, Le Pen won the canton, receiving 52.8% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Nicolas Sarkozy - 29.0%, Marine Le Pen - 24.8%, Francois Hollande - 23.9%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 53.6%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Pas de Calais department by the mayor of the commune, Croisette Claude Bachelet ( Republicans ) and Ginette Beugnet ( Union of Democrats and Independents ).
