Elena Leonidovna Omelchenko (born October 9, 1957 , Chelyabinsk , USSR ) is a Soviet and Russian sociologist, a leading Russian specialist in the field of youth sociology. Doctor of Sociology (2005), Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Higher School of Economics , Director of the Center for Youth Studies of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Higher School of Economics, Director of the Regional Research Center at the Ulyanovsk State University , Head of the Advertising Department of UlSU.

Biography
Born on October 9, 1957 in Chelyabinsk .
In 1979 she graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov .
In 1982 she graduated from the graduate school of the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University and defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of philosophical sciences.
In 1984-1989, he was a professor of philosophy at the Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical Institute named after I.N. Ulyanov .
In 1989-1994 - Head of the Department of Sociology, Ulyanovsk Branch of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov.
In 1995, she organized at the Ulyanovsk State University the Regional Research Center, which is engaged in social research of youth.
In 2005, she graduated from the sociological faculty of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov with a degree in sociology.
In 2005, at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Sociology on the topic “Identities and Cultural Practices of Russian Youth on the Verge of the XX – XXI Centuries” (specialty 22.00.06 - Sociology of Culture and Spiritual Life).
