History
On July 21, 1962, Pope John XXIII issued the bull Christi voluntas , which established the territorial prelature of Huigalpa, distinguishing it from the diocese of Granada .
On April 30, 1991, Pope John Paul II issued the bull Dilectis sane , which transformed the territorial prelature of Huigalpa into a diocese.
