James Sheridan Maspratt ( born James Sheridan Muspratt ; March 8, 1821 , Dublin - February 3, 1871 , Liverpool ) is an Anglo-Irish chemist. [1] Son of James Maspratt .

Biography
Born in Dublin when he was one year old, the family moved to Liverpool. Between 1825 and 1850, his father was one of the largest industrial chemical manufacturers in the UK.
James Sheridan studied at private schools in Bootle in Merseyside , then, along with tutors, went to the European continent. Returning to England, in 1836 he studied chemistry under Thomas Graham at Anderson University in Glasgow , then he moved with his teacher and studied at University College London . He later studied in Giessen under the guidance of Liebig .
Masprett's main work is the reference book “Theoretical, Practical and Analytical Chemistry as Applied to Crafts and Production” ( Eng. Chemistry, Theoretical, Practical and Analytical as applied and relating to the Arts and Manufactures ; 1854 - 1860 ), which has been widely recognized and translated into Russian and German.
He was married to actress Susan Kushman .
