Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway . It was created on June 7, 1905, on the same day the Norwegian parliament (the Storting ) decided to dissolve a personal union with Sweden.

The Ministry is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, now Børge Brende, and the Minister for International Development, now Vidar Helgesen.

Organizational Structure

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs manages 110 foreign missions and three subordinate organizations: the Norwegian Development Cooperation Agency, FK Norway (Norwegian Peace Corps), and the Norfund Development Investment Fund of the country.

Unlike most Norwegian ministries, the Foreign Ministry two ministers act as head of the organization. The Foreign Minister heads most of the political areas and administrative districts, and the Minister for International Development heads the policy area related to international development. Some departments in the ministry report to both ministers.
