He studied piano at the Estonian composer E. Kapp . He worked in the pop-music group in Tartu ( 1951 ), in the dance orchestra of the Riga Teacher's House ( 1956 - 1964 ) [1] .
At the beginning of his career in 1959 in Riga, he performed as a singer on the stage, the lead singer of the big band p / u Ivara Mazur, one of the first performers of American jazz standards in swing style in the USSR.
