It was opened on December 14, 1990 as part of the Arpad Guide - Uypest-Kyozpont site. It is located in the central part of the Budapest district of Uipest (Központ is translated as “center”) at the intersection of Arpad Avenue ( Hungarian Árpád út ) and Istvan ( Hungarian István út ).
Uipest is one of the largest “sleeping areas” of Budapest (more than 50,000 inhabitants). Uypest-Központ station is of great importance for transport links between Uypest and the center of Budapest. The station has stops of a large number of land transport routes (buses and trams) connecting the metro station with various northern regions of the Hungarian capital.
There was a project to continue the M3 line to the northernmost district of Budapest Kapostashmedier ( Hungarian. Káposztásmegyer ), but then it was decided to abandon it and the Uypest-Központ station remained terminal.
Shallow station, 8.2 m deep. There are two side platforms at the station.
On November 4, 2017, part of the M3 line from Lehel ter station to Uypest-Központ station was closed for reconstruction. On March 29, 2019, the Uypest-Kezpont station was inaugurated after reconstruction.
